Privacy

MindLeaT is an iPhone and Mac app that keeps track of meals, calories and macros, your plan, your pantry and your shopping. It is built to keep your data on your device: there is no account, no server of ours, and we collect nothing.

In short

No account, no ads, no usage analytics and no tracking. The app contains no third-party libraries for analytics, crash reporting or advertising.

What you log (meals, weight, photos, pantry, shopping, plans, goals) stays on your iPhone or Mac. It only leaves the device in the few cases described below, almost always because you ask for it.

Where your data lives

Your data is kept in a local store on the device. Progress and food photos are saved with iOS file protection and, unless you choose otherwise, are excluded from iCloud backup.

You can export it at any time: “Export my data” creates a file with meals, pantry, plans and goals, and you share the PDF report for your nutritionist yourself. If you turn on the safety copy, the app saves a daily copy to a folder you pick (for example iCloud Drive), keeping the last seven.

To delete your data, remove individual items in the app or delete the app: its store goes with it.

Voice, camera and photos

The microphone is used to dictate meals and expiry dates. Transcription uses Apple's on-device speech recognition: audio is not sent to any server. On devices with Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-device model may tidy up the transcribed text.

The camera is used to read barcodes and recognise a meal you choose to photograph. Recognition of images, receipts and labels happens on the device: images are not uploaded.

The photo library is only used when you pick a day's progress photo. Face ID, if you turn it on, only unlocks the “Body and photos” section.

Apple Health

On iPhone, if you allow it, MindLeaT reads workouts, active energy, heart rate, weight, body fat and waist circumference from Apple Health, to connect them with what you eat. It writes nothing to Health. Health data is not used for advertising and is not sent to anyone.

When the app uses the internet

Barcodes. When you scan or enter a barcode, the app asks Open Food Facts for that product. Only the code is sent.

Food search. When you search the online catalogue, or create a new food and type its name, the text you type is sent to the Open Food Facts search to suggest similar products. Nothing else is sent: no account, no identifiers.

Search the web. If you tap “Search the web” to find a product's photo or values, the app opens DuckDuckGo or Google Images inside the app with the words you typed, in a session that does not keep cookies. Those pages follow DuckDuckGo's and Google's privacy rules.

Ask your AI. MindLeaT has no online artificial intelligence built in. “Ask your AI” prepares a request with your meal sentence and, only if you tap the button, opens it in Perplexity in your browser. From there, Perplexity's rules apply.

Mac and iPhone together

Mac and iPhone exchange data directly, over your home network or peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, without going through a server. The link is paired with a six-digit code and encrypted. The pairing secret stays in Apple's Keychain.

Notifications, Siri and widgets

Reminders (meals, expiry dates, weigh-ins, progress photos) are local notifications scheduled on the device: we do not use push notifications. Siri, Shortcuts and widgets only read and write the app's data on the device.

The TestFlight beta

The iPhone beta is installed through TestFlight, Apple's service. Under its own rules, Apple shows us some information about how the beta is used: number of sessions and crashes, install date and installed version, along with crash reports and feedback you send from TestFlight. If you joined through the public link, your name and email are not shown to us unless you choose to share them with your feedback. We use this information only to improve the app. Details are in Apple's TestFlight & Privacy.

MindLeaT is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect anyone's data, children included.
